Fanmade PC Port of Majora's Mask Gets Monumental Update

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask fan-made PC port, 2Ship2Harkinian, has been updated to version 1.1.1, adding much-needed improvements.

Majora's Release History

One of Nintendo's most daring games to date is Majora's Mask. The firm saw great success with Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask is a follow-up that questions how the game was played. Tasks have timers, the moon is about to destroy everyone, and days repeat. Reviewers gave it excellent marks despite the fact that it differs significantly from Ocarina of Time's play style.

Following Ocarina of Time 3D's smash success, Nintendo re-released Majora's Mask as a 3DS game in 2015. Similar to its initial version, it received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Reviewers worldwide highly praised the game due to its improvements in quality of life, a reimagining of the original play style, and clearly updated visuals.

A group of enthusiasts is currently working on a PC version of Majora's Mask. This is a complete port of the game so that it can be played natively on Windows computers, as opposed to emulation.

What's in the Update?

The 1.1.1 update adds a few more tweaks and patches to address issues reported in the 1.1.0 release, but the 1.1.0 version also includes new modes, a modernized menu, and game updates.

Modernized Menu

  • Use the "minus" button, ESC, or the analogous key on your controller to gain access.
  • In a future version, the traditional navbar will be phased removed, although F1 still opens it.
  • Search: A new search function allows you to find anything in the menus.
  • Color Customization: Select the color you want to use for the majority of the controls on the menu.

Optional Fixes

  • Text control characters that are consistent throughout PAL and GC versions.
  • Fierce Deity encounters with bombers have been resolved.
  • Ikana's Great Fairy Fountain's color has been fixed.
  • The cleared state of Woodfall Mountain was restored.

New Modes

  • Mirror Mode: Play with a world that is mirrored.
  • Time Moves When You Move: Time only moves forward with you.

This update also includes some new implementations of contemporary gameplay elements. Among the noteworthy new features in this version are an item tracker overlay and gyro support for first-person aim.

Since 2Ship2Harkinian is constantly evolving, new features, improvements to the quality of life, and corrections are to be anticipated as time goes on. If you enjoy Zelda and its history, 2Ship2Harkinan might be the friendliest method to start playing the game if you haven't played it before.

The 2Ship2Harkinian Github is where you can find the game patcher. You're on your own there since you have to source your own game's ROM. If you would like to play the port, though, you may install it on a Windows PC or Steam Deck by following our instructions.
