5 Non-Pokémon Romhacks

5 Non-Pokémon Romhacks
Romhacks are fantastic. They give a game that you may have played a lot but still desire to play more new life. I'm constantly searching for new and interesting hacks to play on my old handhelds, but most lists only offer Pokemon recommendations, though those are also fantastic. I've chosen five non-Pokemon romhacks that you ought to look into. I welcome contributions for a future list, and this is by no means an exhaustive list! Let's begin.
Zombies Ate My Roguelite (Sega Genesis)
I really enjoy Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Additionally, it is a game that works well as a rogue-lite. This hack divides all of the stages into five distinct tiers. You advance to a new, random level in the following tier after finishing each level. You have just one life to try to finish this game. This is an enjoyable pick-up-and-play game, but it's challenging. Try this one if you've played Zombies Ate, My Neighbors, a lot and are looking for a fresh challenge!
The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time (N64)
In the world of The Ocarina of Time, this is Banjo-Kazooie. This is not merely a quick demo to test out for reimagining. There are 900 notes, 100 jaggies, 9 worlds, 5 mambo transformations, and a ton of Easter Eggs to find in this game. I recall being astonished and ecstatic when I first watched the trailer for this romhack. This is a fun one to play. This game is a must-try if you enjoy Ocarina of Time or the Banjo series.
Conker's High Rule Tail (SNES)
I adore Conker's Bad Fur Day's obscene humor. Just like this romhack won't be for everyone, I am also aware that it isn't for everyone. This romhack uses Zelda: A Link to the Past as a foundation to create an entirely new game with everyone's favorite red squirrel with a nasty mouth. The N64 game's trademark lowbrow humor is prevalent throughout the game. Zelda, Super Mario 64, Star Wars, The Simpsons, and a plethora of other media are all mentioned. Although this romhack was challenging in its early iterations, it has been modified in subsequent releases to make it accessible to all users.
Smash Remix (N64)
I have a lot of memories of late-night sleepovers because of Super Smash Bros. for the N64. This romhack is really amazing and keeps becoming bigger. Wario, Conker, Mewtwo, Bowser, Sonic, and others are added to this romhack. Numerous additional stages have also been introduced. When I initially learned about this hack, I saw that it gave the game a story mode similar to Melee's. There are frequent updates for this game, and the most recent one was released not long ago. If you enjoy the Smash series, you should play this game; you won't be let down!
Paper Mario: Black Pit (N64)
The Paper Mario franchise is the target of yet another Rogue Lite attack. Paper Mario performs surprisingly well as a roguelike. The black pit is getting deeper and deeper as you plunge into it. As you progress through the game, you will encounter random companions and improvements. Every run might feel different, which encourages you to keep playing. Even the fighting in the game has been improved from The Thousand-Year Door. Try this one if you enjoyed the original Paper Mario a lot!
Because there are so many amazing ones, and you might become engaged in the pastime, ROM hacking is a risky endeavor.
